Welcome to the pearl city of southern Aegean where the blue sky meets the glossy turquoise water uniting the ancient civilizations and today’s modernism in one colorful peninsula! Here is Bodrum with its white washed houses of which the wild growing bougainvilleas disguise the walls.
Castle of St. Peters
Bodrum owes its name to the Knights of Rhodes, who in 1402 had built the Castle of St. Peters or Petronium as a fortress, which slightly adopted the name Bodrum as we know today. Now, the castle houses one of the richest Underwater Archaeology Museums of the world.
Mausoleum
While it’s accepted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it reflects the Egyptian architecture with its pyramid shaped roof and it’s possible to see the Greek architecture in its columns. Today it carries a great significance because of its enormous size.
Ancient Theatre
One of the oldest ancient theatres dated to the Classical Period in Anatolia. Today, it houses several festivals with its audience capacity of 13.000.

Multicolored sponges of all shapes and sizes, octopus and other forms of aquatic life are commonly found here.

The boatyards of Bodrum have been famous since the ancient ages and today the craftsmen still make the traditional types of yacht: the pointed bow and stern (tirhandil) and the broad beamed and rounded stern (gullets). The latter, especially, is used for excursions and pleasure trips. The gullet is also used in the Bodrum Cup Race held every October. Bodrum has a lively, friendly, bohemian atmosphere and many small galleries. It is the intersection point of the Turkish art communities. Known by its relaxed, informal life style and its abundance of daytime fun-filled activities and nighttime excitement, it is impossible to be bored. There are many bars, restaurants, night clubs (some with cabaret), and of course, one of the best discos of Europe, The Halikarnas Night Club.
